VISITS SCHOOL

CHILDREN’S author Eamonn
Reilly met budding bookworms at Horsell C of E
Junior School as he popped in to tell them about
how he writes his books and to read them a few
passages from one of his completed stories.
Mr Reilly gave a special literary assembly
and talked about the key questions he asks
himself when he plans his stories and how he
gets his ideas.
He has written seven children’s books and he
outlined the story of each of these to the
children. One Boy, One Dream, One Club seemed to
be the popular choice among the boys and Harriet
The Horrible and Harriet The Horrible in Best
Friends were the most popular with the girls.
There was an opportunity for the children to
question Mr Reilly about his work. Lorraine
Buchanan, a governor at the school in Meadway
Drive, said: “Eamonn used to be an English
teacher so understands just how important it is
for children to develop their reading skills and
to read for pleasure.
“His visit was thoroughly enjoyed by the
children. The talk was lively and enthusiastic
and it certainly held the pupils’ attention
during the special assembly.” |
