Review: I didn't really know what to expect and I was a little apprehensive when it was arranged for Eamonn to speak to all the 450 children in our school.

The children and the staff loved it!! It was very entertaining and the children listened to every word. There was laughter and fun and every-one enjoyed hearing tales about where he got his ideas from to write the stories. The books came to life as Eamonn went into character and told snippets - the children were keen to find out more. A great visit - thank you!

You visited my 9 year old son's school recently (Sparrow Farm Community Junior School) and James was given the opportunity to buy one of your books.  Being a keen footballer himself, he decided on "One boy, One dream, One club".

I always tend to read the books my children buy so I know what they are about and I have just read this one.  It absolutely captivated me and I cannot wait for James to start it to hear his thoughts.  I don't know if it was actually based on true life but it sounded so real, I am sure that it will inspire every little boy who reads it to keep up his football practice!

Thank you so much - your book brought tears to my eye but made me feel very happy too!

Hi Eamonn
Your visit today was just fantastic.  The children, and staff, have been talking about it all day.  Wendy's children in Year 1 have been asking her if her arm is still smelly!
Pat, the head teacher, was so impressed at how one minute the children would be screaming and laughing and then you had them back listening quietly! Quite a feat.
We all enjoyed it so much. Many, many thanks.
Irene

Dear E. R. Reilly,
I really enjoyed your visit to our school, (Coten End) it was funny and very interesting! . You said at the assembly that you are having a new book coming out about a children's lottery. When will it be out?
Also us year 6 girl ( including me ) couldn't stop laughing about the things you said about us and that prince.  The tips you gave us for our sats - 1 week time, ah!, where very handy. Once again thnx for your visit. Hope to hear from you soon, Amber. xxx
P.S. The football team you support are rubbish, you should totally support NEWCASTLE!!!! (They rule!)  ha ha!!!
P.P.S .-Hope you like the funny man at the top. hehehe!!

In June we had a visit from author Eamonn Reilly

  • He was a brilliant entertainer as well as an author. Everyone had a laugh, even the teachers!

  • Eamonn talked about the books he had written. He acted out and read extracts from the books.

  • He told us how he gets his ideas for his books and we were amazed to hear that it takes about a year from starting a book to seeing it on the shelves.

  • This is what some of us thought of Eamonn

  • "After the visit we were all really keen to read Eamonn's books."

  • "Eamonn had a huge enthusiasm for telling stories and writing them down just maybe he has inspired one of us to become a future author."

From the children at St George's Warminster, year 5.

  • Louise McKee "A brilliant literacy lesson - very funny & I won't forget it."

  • Abigail Croker "I loved the idea of the magic potion, especially the recipe for it."

  • Katie Erangey "I really enjoyed reading "Best of Friends" because it's very funny & Harriet gets her own back."

  • Adam Bard "I really enjoyed listening to Eamonn I will buy some of his books - especially the football book."

More comments:

  • "The best book I've ever read." Alice Mahoney

  • "Harriet was the first book that I've ever read all the way through from cover to cover." Fiona Jones

  • "My favourite bit was when the butcher chases Salty down the road for his sausages." Matthew Bennett.
